The defined pecking order for most organizations is the general manager signs the players, and the coach coaches them. That's no different in Buffalo.
GM Tim Murray and coach Ted Nolan are in their first summer together with the Buffalo Sabres. Nolan will swing by the GM's office to see what players Buffalo is targeting, but he doesn't ask for anyone to be put on the list. Trades and signings are Murray's domain.
"I think I have a good feel on who he likes and what kind of player he likes," Murray said. "Is he in on every meeting or do we talk daily? No, but we do talk about players."
