2012-13 school attendance rates

As part of an in-depth story I've been working on regarding the graduation rates for the lowest-performing high schools in Buffalo, I requested the latest report on school attendance data. Not surprisingly, the schools with the weakest attendance also had the weakest graduation rates.

For the last three years, Riverside High School has ranked last, with a quarter of its students failing to show up at school on average. (Riverside's graduation rate for 2012 was 24 percent.) The district's overall average daily attendance for this past school year was 90.6 percent.

Below is the attendance report for all Buffalo Public Schools as of June 2013. In looking at the chart, the second to the last column reflects the average daily attendance percentage for 2012-13. The last column ranks all the schools in terms of attendance, from best to worst.

The current report also shows the comparative school attendance rates for the 2011-12 school year in the third to last column.
