This Day in Buffalo Sports History
Nov. 3, 1986 -- Better days were coming for the Buffalo Bills. We just didn't know it at that point.
Today marks the anniversary of the announcement that Marv Levy had taken over as coach of the Bills. He replaced Hank Bullough. There was little clue that Levy would help turn the Bills around. He had been an NFL coach in Kansas City, but went 31-42. The team had shown improvement until the 1982 strike really shattered the Chiefs.
Levy spent the rest of the year looking over his team, going 2-5. He finished 112-70 as coach of the Bills, including those four straight Super Bowl trips. Levy also became one of the most beloved figures in Buffalo sports history in the process.
