Weekend wrapup
Two races highlighted the Saturday schedule. The Lindsay's Legacy 5K event went off nicely in Tonawanda, with almost 400 runners taking part. Dan Serianni took first place among men in 16:12, while Brenda Spillman was the women's winner in 19:20. As usual, no one went away hungry, and there was a charity auction after the race that must have had about 100 prizes. Even I won something from the blind draw, which is always nice.
I talked with co-race director Fritz Van Leaven. He was pretty happy about giving out tote bags and mugs, saying that it was nice not to have to worry about the sizes of shirts in the pre-race rush. I'd expect this trend to continue. Good job, Fritz.
Meanwhile, the UAW Veterans Appreciation Run was held in Lockport. Kevin Sheehan (19:09) and Jennifer Raby (21:16) were the winners there. The field there had 83 runners.
