Bandits notebook: Midweek report

The Buffalo Bandits received a couple of league honors after their victory over Orlando last week.

Mark Steenhuis was named the Overall Player of the Week. The forward had six goals, including a natural hat trick in the first period, and four assists in the 12-10 triumph. It was the biggest offensive game of the season by a Bandit, and moved him to 50 points for the season -- good for eighth place in the National Lacrosse League.

Kyle Clancy was named Rookie fo the Week. Clancy had two goals and four assists against Orlando. His 18 points for the season ranks fifth in the NLL, despite playing in only four games.

The Bandits received some good news on the injury front. Kyle Schmelzle has a broken nose, and not the season-ending broken cheekbone that was first thought. He should be ready to play this weekend in the games with Toronto and Boston. Steve Priolo, originally believed to have suffered a concussion against Orlando, has checked out well and should play this weekend. Chris Corbeil has a lower-body injury and will miss three weeks.
