Bandits notebook: Dostie to sit out a year

A couple of quick notes about the Bandits and the league:

* Kevin Dostie has gone on the Bandits' protected player list. That probably means that the forward will sit out the 2011 season. Dostie has battled a knee injury among other physical problems in the last couple of seasons, and plans to take a year off to recover. It's possible that he could come back if the Bandits have injury issues.

Dostie was one of the people who put together a highlight video of the 2009 season called "Rugburn." I haven't heard anything on whether a second annual edition will be out soon.

* We should be seeing a lot more of Matt Vinc in the near future. Vinc, who was picked up by Colorado in the dispersal draft from Orlando, was traded to Rochester last week. John Grant went to Colorado in the four-player swap that also included some draft choices.

Vinc is the former Canisius College standout who might have been the best goalie in the league last season. It's easy to wonder if he was anxious to come back near home. John Grant will be 36 on Sunday but he hasn't lost much offensively.  He had 83 points in 15 games last season after missing all of 2009 due to injury.
