First Niagara Bank continues its growth, this time in Buffalo. The bank, which has tripled in size in the past two years, will be adding 500 jobs, mostly in Buffalo. The bank has $30 billion in assets and has helped solidify Buffalo as a regional banking headquarters.
Moog Inc.'s earnings rose 22 percent, propelled by industrial and military contracts. The company also raised earnings targets for the year.
The former American Brass plant on Military Road in Buffalo has had a carousel of ownership in its history, with the latest being a German-owned copper giant. Aurubis AG, Europe's largest copper producer, bought te rolling division of Luvata. Local managers at the plant a generally excited about the change, noting the German company's expertise.
The University at Buffalo School of Management has been reaching out to the private sector for years, seeking to get real world experience for its students and to showcase their talents. The most recent opportunity was a marketing contest for Mentholatum, the Orchard Park-based that will sell Hada Labo, the popular Asian skin cream made by parent company Rohto. Teams of students designed marketing plans and presented them to a large crowd of corporate executives.
