Dogs go to work, market-rate housing gets a break and the FTC investigates high gas prices

 From Business Today:

Dog

Friday is Take Your Dog to Work Day for participating businesses in Western New York. Workers at some companies are encouraged to bring their pets to work for the day as a way to encourage animal adoption and raise money among co-workers. The tradition was started by Pet Sitters International in 1999.

Sylvia's Place, a 48-unit senior housing project in Elma, won $414,000 in tax breaks from the Erie County Industrial Development Agency. There was some debate over whether the $3 million project, which offers market-rate housing, should be eligible for breaks. But the vote eventually passed 11-2.

Gas

The Federal Trade Commission will look into high gas prices to see if anti-competitive or manipulative practices are to blame. It will look at oil refiners, producers, transporters, marketers and traders to see if any of them had any part in manipulating pricing.
