Young people are having a tough time finding jobs these days, so New York state has come up with an incentive program to help. The New York Youth Works program trains eligible people who are 16-24 years old and gives the
companies that hire them $3,000 tax breaks per worker. Locally, GEICO and Ingram Micro have signed on so far. Details to apply for the program are available here.
Local glove maker Manzella Productions has been sold to Totes Isotoner. The impact on local jobs is unclear at this point, but some of the design and development work will remain in Cheektowaga.
The Hamister Development Group is planning to build a hotel in downtown Niagara Falls. The City Council anointed the firm the preferred developer for the long vacant site at 310 Rainbow Blvd., just minutes from the falls.
Sovran Self Storage is coming of a strong fourth quarter,and its CEO Kenneth F. Myska is optimistic about the future. Seems Americans have lots of stuff to store.
