'Grey's' Finale Is a Happy One

Talk about happy endings. Thursday’s feel-good, season finale of “Grey’s Anatomy” was loaded with them as the good doctors dealt honestly with their feelings and had epiphanies about what is important in life.

Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Derek (Patrick Dempsey) saved a life and talked about building a life (and a home) together. George (T.R. Knight) and Izzie (Katherine Heigl) got self-confidence, backbones and second chances. Miranda (Chandra Wilson) decided to reduce her workload to try and reunite with her husband. Yang (Sandra Oh) got her mojo back.

Richard (James T. Pickens), the chief of staff, and his estranged wife kissed after they reunited. Callie (Sara Ramirez) and Erica (Brooke Smith) ended a season of flirtation and kissed.  And so did Izzy and Alex (Justin Chambers), whose honesty about taking care of his mother when he was young made his actions with Ava/Rebecca (Elizabeth Reaser) understandable and himself vulnerable.

Honestly, almost all of it worked for me because I had tired of all the personal dramas and wished these emotionally-fragile doctors would resolve some things. But happiness doesn’t usually work long-term on a TV show so we can be sure problems will arise for everyone next season.

What did you think of the finale?
