Mad Men Gets Return Date
It doesn't get a fraction of the audience of NBC's maddeningly inane "I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here," but the more cerebral crowd that loves AMC's Emmy-winning "Mad Men" will be happy to learn the third season set in the world of advertising in the 1960s is set to start Sunday, Aug.16.
In anticipation of the return, AMC will run a "Mad Men" marathon of the second season on Monday, Aug. 10 starting at 7 a.m.
If you're a fan of the series -- which is more popular with critics than with viewers who prefer a faster pace -- how eager are you for its return?

Mad Men is spot-on. The late 50ies to early 60ies was an era when the advertisng execs were egomaniacs, their wives were pampered and lied to, their secretaries were sex toys and everybody chain-smoked like chimneys and drank like(keeping with the venacular of the era)...fish.
Not to be too picky of a fine show, but most everybody smoked either non-filtered Camels or Luckies back in that day, not the filtered cigs you ses in the show. If you feared the warnings, you might smoke the new filterd butts, like Winston or L&M, but most didn't, especially the (macho) ad men.
Great show, well written, great cast and character driven, not much plot,no car chases, no gay characters out of the closet, and not a single murder, thank goodness.
And unlike 'Celebrity', Mad Men is adult fare.

I'm luke-warm to it. The sets and costumes are all great as is the acting -- it just doesn't seem to me like the show is going anywhere. Breaking Bad, AMC's other original series, is 1,000,000 times better — and may be the best series on TV.
