Ch.7's Geoffery says goodbye Friday to local TV

By Alan Pergament

Ginger Geoffery's last day at Channel 7 is Friday when she plans to announce her next destination on "Eyewitness News This Morning" and on social networks.

She responded to my email inquiring where she is headed by referring me to Twitter on Friday with the hashtag #GingersBigAnnouncement

I'm not making this up.

One thing is clear:  She won't be working in local TV.

In an email to the staff wishing Geoffery luck, News Director Polly Van Doren wrote that Geoffery "has accepted an offer outside of television and will now know what it’s like to have normal hours by working 9-5!"

Channel 7’s new morning team with co-anchors Cole Heath and Tiffany Lundberg premieres Aug. 12. With Geoffery leaving shortly after Patrick Taney said goodbye, Channel 7’s low-rated morning show next week is expected to be anchored for a week by Jacqueline Asztalos.

Inquiring minds also want to know where veteran traffic reporter Dave Cash is going after Channel 7's  new traffic reporter, Desiree Wiley, makes her debut on the station's morning show. Cash's last day is Aug. 9.

Channel 7's contract with the NFTA ends on Aug. 21. There is widespread speculation that Cash, who works for the NFTA and also occasionally filled in on weather, will be moving with the NFTA to Channel 2 after that.

NFTA spokesman Doug Hartmayer said the Channel 2 speculation is premature.

"We are exploring all of our options," said Hartmayer. "We had a very positive 17 years with Channel 7 and felt it was time to explore other options in the marketplace."

I guess we may have to wait for #CashsBigAnnouncement
