Congi lands morning job in Portland

By Alan Pergament

Former Channel 4 anchor Anthony Congi has landed a job at KPTV in Portland, Ore.

He ended his three years in Buffalo a few months ago in search of a job on the West Coast. He is from a small Northern California town near the Oregon border.

Congi wrote on his Facebook page early this week that is he joining Portland's top-rated morning newscast team. KPTV is a Fox affiliate in the 22nd TV market in the country.

"These past couple of months as a 'free agent' have been a good experience for me and I can't be happier with this decision," wrote Congi on his Facebook page.

In early November, he told Talkin' TV the fact that his wife Jennifer could continue working for HSBC no matter where they live made it easier for them to return out West and be closer to their families. She is from Idaho.

His decision to leave Channel 4 after three years appeared to have come after Channel 4 officials knew that he was looking elsewhere and didn't offer him a new deal.

Portland was one of three West Coast cities mentioned in this blog in November as possibilities for Congi to land.
