Further discussion of Schoellkopf site planned

The Niagara Falls Historic Preservation Commission plans to take up the issue of conditions at an historic site in the Niagara Gorge later this month.

The commission had sought information from the state about how officials are handling the site of the former Schoellkopf Power Station while construction continues on a boat storage facility for the Maid of the Mist.

Members of the commission met with officials from the New York Power Authority at the site and are slated to revisit the topic.

Covanta Niagara, a waste incinerator, started construction on a project too early, in violation of state environmental law and regulations.

Niagara Falls School Board sets meeting calendar

The Niagara Falls School Board has scheduled its board meetings for this academic year.

The board will hold a regular monthly business meeting, which is preceded by an agenda review session. It will also meet for what are called "board review sessions" on nights when there is no regular business meeting.

Most meetings are held in the auditorium of the administration building, 630 66th St. Agendas can usually be found here before meetings.

The meeting dates and times are subject to change. Here's the calendar, as decided by the board at its two-day retreat two weeks ago:
