The Aquarium of Niagara will receive a $1.75 million grant to fund capital improvements at its facility.
The Western New York Power Proceeds Allocation Board awarded the grant today, State Sen. George D. Maziarz said.
The board allocates economic devlopment funding amassed from the sale on the open market of unallocated hydropower from the New York Power Authority's Niagara Power Project.
The Isaiah 61 Project, which works to rehabilitate homes and provide job training, received an award of $154,500, Maziarz said.
Here's more from my colleague David Robinson.
Last year, the aquarium was undertaking a study to identify deficiencies.
