Councilwoman Kristen M. Grandinetti wants the City of Niagara Falls to explore using a management strategy using real-time data to help its response in severe winter weather.
Grandinetti said the strategy is in use in the city's police department. Police Superintendent Bryan DalPorto is scheduled to address the City Council about it during Monday night's meeting.
The City of Buffalo uses the system, calling it CitiStat. It originated in Baltimore in the 1990s under the name CompStat, Grandinetti said.
In a written statement issued Thursday, Grandinetti said, "When it comes to ensuring a transparent, responsible and effective use of taxpayer dollars - not just at [the Department of Public Works], but at all city agencies - the CompStat model is worth exploring."
