Application withdrawn for proposed Niagara Falls charter school

A group seeking to start the first charter school in the City of Niagara Falls has withdrawn its application to the state, according to the State Education Department's website.

It wasn't immediately apparent why the application was pulled. Three of 11 other charter school applications from across the state were also withdrawn.

The proposed Academy of Learning and Leadership Charter School was fiercely opposed by officials in the Niagara Falls School District, as well as city officials.

Here's a story from early March about the proposed school.
