A public hearing on the proposed 2014-15 budget for the Niagara Falls School District will be held Thursday night in Niagara Falls High School, 4455 Porter Road.
The proposed $126 million spending plan represents an increase in annual spending of about 1.9 percent. It also calls for using about $2.7 million in "one-time" revenues that won't be available for the 2015-16 budget.
One teaching position would be eliminated through attrition, while 2.5 support staff positions would be cut under the proposed budget. The local tax levy, or the amount collected from city property owners, would remain at $25.8 million. Any proposed increase in the tax levy would have required 60 percent of voters to approve the spending plan.
The hearing will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the high school's amphitheater.
