Public quiet on proposed school budget in Niagara Falls

Five members of the public attended Thursday night's public hearing on the proposed $126.4 million Niagara Falls school budget.

None of them spoke during the public hearing, which followed a presentation about the spending plan from Timothy Hyland, the district's administrator for school business services.

The proposed budget carries no increase in the tax levy, while the tax rate is estimated to go down by a penny.

Some board members have previously said the district might be in for a much more difficult financial situation next year.
