Niagara Falls School District releases community survey

The Niagara Falls School District is asking for input from the community about how it's doing.

The survey, which can be completed online here, covers a variety of topics, including academics, safety, communication and the perception of the district.

"Using the results of the survey, the district will create action plans to address areas of concern that may arise from the information gathered, or increase efforts in areas that are working well," Superintendent Cynthia A. Bianco said in a written statement.

Public meetings in Niagara Falls government this week

The Housing Authority Board of Commissioners will meet at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the authority’s executive offices at 744 10th St.

The Zoning Board of Appeals will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in Council Chambers in City Hall, 745 Main St.

Niagara Falls School Board to assess polling site changes

The Niagara Falls School Board will hold a special meeting Thursday night with an agenda that includes talking about recent changes to polling sites.

An agenda for the meeting has not yet been released, but a district spokesperson confirmed the polling place discussion.

Flood watch for Niagara Falls' Cayuga Island cancelled

The New York Power Authority has cancelled a flood watch for Cayuga Island in Niagara Falls, Mayor Paul A. Dyster has announced on his Facebook page.

The watch remains in effect for the Robert Moses Parkway beneath the north Grand Island bridge.

Flood gauges are two feet below the damage level and falling, Dyster reports.

Niagara Falls awarded $200k grant from NFL, Buffalo Bills for field improvements

NIAGARA FALLS - The city School District will receive $200,000 grant toward the installation of a synthetic turf field at Nicoletti Field.

The funding comes from the National Football League’s Youth Football Fund, the Buffalo Bills and the Local Initiatives Support Corporation.
