Clendening left off Team USA's final roster

Team USA announced its official National Junior Team roster for the 2011 World Junior Hockey Championship slated to begin Sunday at HSBC Arena and local boy Adam Clendening won't be participating with them. Clendening was one of the final cuts, announced by the team on its facebook page earlier this morning.

Clendening helped the U.S. Under-18 team capture back-to-back gold medals in the IIHF World Championship in 2009-10 and had hoped to help the U.S. defend its Under-20 gold medal in his Western New York stomping grounds.

The 18-year-old Clendening, understandably, took the news hard when he was informed of the Team USA coach Keith Allain's decision.

"Yes, there's obviously disappointment. You hope to make the team. ... For me it's tough time to elaborate on that right now," he said.

Here is the 2011 U.S. National Junior Team with hopes of winning its second consecutive gold medal:

Goaltenders - Jack Campbell, Andy Iles

Defensemen - Brian Dumoulin, Justin Faulk, Derek Forbort, Nick Leddy, Jon Merrill, John Ramage, Patrick Wey

Forwards - Nick Bjugstad, Ryan Bourque, Chris Brown, Mitch Callahan, Charlie Coyle, Jerry D'Amigo, Emerson Etem, Chris Kreider, Jeremy Morin, Brock Nelson, Kyle Palmieri, Drew Shore, Jason Zucker
