While the bowels of HSBC Arena are filled with activity to prep for the tournament -- highlighted notably by the switch of the service level media workroom and buffet lines from their normal spot by the Illinois Street security entrance to the aerospace museum area -- there isn't much different on the ice yet. That will change once the Sabres-Panthers game is complete Thursday night.
But the work is already just about done at Niagara University. The main rink at Dwyer Arena has been adorned with the official tournament logo at center ice as well as the USA Hockey logo and advertisements (right). This picture was posted this evening on the Twitter account of PurpleEagles.com. Pretty cool. Click on it for a closer look.
First game at Niagara is Sunday at 4 with Sweden meeting Norway in the Lost Equipment Bowl. It's an intimate, intimate venue. Maybe 2,000 seats. If you want an up-close view of the action, it's a good alternative to the games at HSBC.
